WHY WAS BANARAS' NAME CHANGED TO VARANASI?
Introduction
The oldest settlement in India, the holy town of Varanasi (also called Banaras), which attracts thousands of visitors each year to its well-known Ghats to take a plunge in the Ganges, is as old as the Indus Valley civilization. The name of the town appears in many Hindu writings, including the Rigveda, Skanda Purana, Ramayana, and Mahabharata.
Varanasi is a safe destination for unaccompanied female tourists, as long as they take the necessary precautions. What is this? Don't burst out with uncommon guys presenting roads or drinks, don't exist at night alone yourself, and make sure you have a plan.
