For one thing, they bring your pet great comfort. Just as humans are animals and need our own places for shelter, relaxation and lounging around, so too do our precious critters. Dogs will sleep on the floor if you make them, but they would much rather have a comfortable bed to call their own! Kitties also need a comfy place, and would prefer not to sleep under the couch.
