What is the difference between Izod and Charpy tests?
The Izod and Charpy tests are both methods used to measure the impact energy absorbed by materials, and they are conducted using an Impact Testing Machine. However, they differ in how the specimen is positioned during testing:
Izod Test: The specimen is held vertically, and the pendulum strikes the specimen at a single point.
Charpy Test: The specimen is positioned horizontally, and the pendulum strikes the material in the middle.
Both tests help determine a material's toughness and its behavior under sudden or extreme stress.
