Sue Lynn Wood, her spouse, and their cherished cat Ruffy live in Valdez, Alaska. Although she was born in Portland, Oregon, she grew up in Clark County, Washington. The pair moved to Valdez in 1999, drawn by their love of Alaska. The alias "Sue Lynn Wood" honors three generations of women in her maternal family. As a proud member of IBEW 1547, she currently works full-time at the local electric utility and plans to retire the following year. Sue chose to share her poetry in order to acknowledge her true self, driven by recent events in her life. The Phoenix Butterfly metaphor, which represents her writing debut, is celebrated in this book along with her path of self-discovery and artistic expression.
