The most straightforward (and arguably the most effective) card counting system is the "plus minus" approach. All cards are assigned a value. Low cards, 2-6, are assigned a price of plus one. Medium cards, 7-9, are discounted, with something of 4. High cards, 10-A, are assigned a price of negative one. Considering that game proceeds, the total count is referred to as the running count.
