In this research, we prove that murine Gal-3-deficient CD8+ T cells displayed no defects at the beginning of (36 h) activation or expansion after TCR stimulation. On the other hand, Gal-3-/- CD8+ T cells exhibited reduced survival and a low capacity to develop into memory cells after stimulation with cognate Ag plus agonist anti-OX40 mAb or IL-2 in vivo. Reduced success of Gal-3-/- T cells had been related to increased apoptosis and occurred in a cell-intrinsic manner
