I am a heritage architect in the United Kingdom. I have seen firsthand the revolutionary effect that technology has had on the preservation of historic structures and locations in my work. Our approach has been transformed by the introduction of state-of-the-art instruments and techniques. Now, we can protect cultural structures and extend their lives in ways that were unthinkable even a few decades ago. My goal in writing this article (linked) is to explore how these technological developments are influencing the preservation of cultural heritage.
