In the UK, I've worked as a traffic calming specialist for a long time. In an earlier guest article that I've included here, I talked about how many times traffic control measures have been either poorly executed or completely disruptive. Even though they are ubiquitous in the United States, bump strips and speed bumps continue to spark debate. The goal of reducing vehicle speeds is admirable, but their implementation is frequently inadequate. The best solution ever: speed bump strips made of cobblestones! They think about how to make the road safer while also making it easier to use.
