Doosan Manager Lee Seung-youp Encourages Oh Jae-il to go to KT… "An Opportunity to Tighten the Screws"
Lee Seung-youp, manager of the Doosan Bears, left a word of encouragement for Oh Jae-il (kt wiz), who suddenly changed teams.
Oh Jae-il was traded from the Samsung Lions, where he had been for four years, to kt on the 28th.
It was only a day after Park Byung-ho, who was with KT, requested a transfer to his original team in order to secure more playing time.
Samsung judged that they could utilize Park Byung-ho's long-distance hitting ability at the Daegu Samsung Lions Park, a hitter-friendly stadium, and traded Oh Jae-il, a first baseman of the same age.
It must have been a sudden transfer for Oh Jae-il, who was in his last season before regaining his free agent (FA) status.
The manager encouraged Oh Jae-il, a junior who follows him well.
The reason Oh Jae-il wore the number 36 in his Doosan Bears days was because he respected Lee Seung-youp, and the reason he signed a free agent contract with Samsung was because he followed 'Lion King' Lee Seung-youp.
The manager said, "If the team changes, it will be an opportunity to tighten the screws once more," and "If you always play with the same people in the same environment, you can become very comfortable mentally."
He said, "Isn't it bad for me?
I think it's not a bad idea for the team to change the atmosphere."
The coach said, "Oh Jae-il's (performance) has been getting better recently," and "He has one more enemy.
He even joked, “You don’t have to come out today…”
After struggling with a batting average of 0.167 (6 hits in 36 at-bats) in 11 games since the start of this season, Oh Jae-il spent about a month in the minor leagues re-organizing himself, and since returning to the major leagues on the 12th of this month, he is currently hitting 0.321 (9 hits in 28 at-bats) in 11 games.
Meanwhile, on this day, Manager Lee removed Choi Won-jun and Lee Kyo-hoon from the first-team entry and put in Kim Myeong-shin and Kim Do-yoon.
