Domestic Violence and Drunk Driving' Kwak Myung-woo "I will Gladly Accept the Punishment"

Korea Volleyball Federation Holds Disciplinary Committee to Review Kwak Myung-woo Disciplinary Action.

Setter Kwak Myung-woo (33, OK Financial Group), who was found guilty by the court on charges of domestic violence, bowed his head and said, “I will willingly accept the punishment of the disciplinary committee.”

Kwak Myung-woo appeared before the press after giving his explanation at the disciplinary committee meeting of the Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) held at the office of the Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 31st.

He said, "I told the disciplinary committee exactly what happened.

I apologize to everyone," and "I will gladly accept the punishment (according to the disciplinary committee's decision).

I will live my life reflecting deeply."

Kwak Myung-woo was sentenced to six months in prison, one year of license suspension, and one year of probation for violating the Telecommunications Secrets Protection Act and assault.

The court also ordered him to complete a 40-hour domestic violence treatment program.

The first trial verdict for Kwak Myung-woo, who was accused of assaulting his wife, was handed down in September of last year, and the second trial verdict was handed down in May of this year.

The sentence was finalized after Kwak Myung-woo gave up his appeal to the Supreme Court.

In addition, it was revealed through a trial in May that he had been caught drunk driving in 2021.

OK Financial Group claimed that it did not know that Kwak Myung-woo had been tried during the 2023-2024 season.

On April 19, he traded setter Kwak Myung-woo to Hyundai Capital in exchange for middle blocker Cha Young-seok and a first-round pick in the 2024-2025 rookie draft.

KOVO did not publicize this trade, and OK Financial Group requested KOVO to withdraw the trade announcement.
