For completed ceilings, connect angle iron along the underside of a joist with 3-in. Hang the opener using two extra lengths of angle iron and nuts and bolts. Use lock washers or thread-locking adhesive to keep vibration from loosening the nuts. Your directions probably don’t cowl checking the opening drive. The “resistance” could be your finger caught within the track. They require the least maintenance, but they’re not as quiet as belt drives. Belt drives (a rubber belt opens and closes the door) are the quietest, making them the greatest choice if you have dwelling house above the garage.
