ADHD in Adult Women Undiagnosed ADHD can cause women to develop coping mechanisms to mask their symptoms, making it difficult for others notice. They might be more difficult to be diagnosed particularly when women enter menopausal or perimenopause. Adult women suffering from ADHD are often treated with therapy and medication. Stimulants like methylphenidate (Ritalin) and dextroamphetamine/amphetamine salts may help, as well as nonstimulants such as atomoxetine and antidepressants.
