Klinsmann Gives Advice to England Manager Southgate: "Trust Your Intuition"
Former South Korean national football team manager Jurgen Klinsmann has publicly offered advice to England national team manager Gareth Southgate, saying, "As a manager, you should trust your instincts."
In a column published in the British newspaper The Sun on the 3rd (Korean time), Klinsmann said, "As a manager going into the tournament, at this point, Southgate, you should trust your instincts."
At the same time, he recommended a different 4-4-2 formation to Manager Southgate.
Former Manager Klinsmann said, "After Spain won three consecutive major tournaments, most clubs and countries adopted the 4-2-3-1 formation.
But if it doesn't work, you can change it.
He explained, "You need an open attitude."
He added, "I played in a 4-4-2 formation throughout my career. https://rentry.co/fgm6nd62
At Tottenham (England), I played with Teddy Sheringham, and I was happy to have a teammate next to me (at the front)."
Former manager Klinsmann recommended using 'special striker' Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) and Ivan Toney (Brentford) as the two top players.
Toney, the key player of Brentford's attack, was not used by manager Southgate in this Euro 2024 (European Football Championship).
He made his Euro debut as a substitute in the second half of the round of 16 match against Slovakia.
Former coach Klinsmann also preferred the 4-4-2 formation when he led Korea.
England is set to play Switzerland in the quarterfinals of Euro 2024 at 10 AM on the 7th.
