Today, we’re sharing Fun Facts about the Arabic language to celebrate its beauty, and richness!

Known as “Loghat Al-Dhad” to emphasize Arabic’s uniqueness through it’s sounds, and to distinguish it from other languages.

Nickname
Arabic is nicknamed “Loghat al-Dhad” (لغة الضاد) because it’s the only language in the world that has and utilizes the letter “ض” and whose speakers are eloquent enough to pronounce it!

Wordsmiths
There are more than 11 words for love, hundreds of words for camel, including “Al-Harib” a female camel that walks far ahead of the others, and 400 words for Lion, like “Layth” (ليث) which means a “brave lion”

Numbers
Numbers have gender agreement and are written from left to right, opposite to Arabic words which are written from right to left!

Root System
Most Arabic words are constructed of 3-letter roots. For example: “k-t-b” serves as the base for words that exist in the field of writing: Book (kitab) and Desk or Office (maktab). As such, it conveys a deeper sense of unified structure not found in other languages.
