This rule is strongly enforced by the NCAA and has harsh consequences if broken. The NCAA came up with the "no agent rule" on account of this, claiming it was to profit the amateur athletes. Representation of an agent is taken into account to be any direct contact with the skilled group in the course of the contract negotiations.
