General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a diploma course in nursing which is a three years professional course with six months internship. This course focuses on the care of patients in the hospitals, nursing homes and clinics wherein they may work in coordination with the physicians. This course enables the students to be qualified for employment in a wide variety of professional setting as clinical nurse specialist, cardio-thoracic nurse, infection control nurse, ICU nurse, orthopedic nurse, emergency room nurse, psychiatric nurse, industrial nurse, school health nurse, and midwife. One can also go for higher degree program to become a teacher or a lecturer at college level by pursuing Post Basic B. Sc Nursing after GNM.
